Valentine Crafts

First of all, I wanted to show off Ainsley's hair. I know the picture isn't the best, but we made hearts in her hair for school today. They were really darling.

Secondly, I had this little wooden box with grand ideas. I got it at a garage sale full of musical instruments for $3. I was thrilled because I already had a crate with the instruments, so I threw them all together and voila! A ready to decorate treasure! The plan was to modpodge it for V-Day for my honey, and use it for papers, etc. on the overcrowded desk. See the cute picture of the temple?

Here's the problem. My ideas are usually not finished as I plan. What the heck? It got all bubbly. WHY did my paper bubble up? Any modpodge experts out there? I need to know before I attempt Alexa's ugly Ikea dresser.

I love to modpodge too!! there is a better thing out there for your paper craftes called zip dry and it is amazing and you only need a little bit!! good luck! Also you can try to put the modpodge on the wood first and let dry a bit then apply paper and press firmly. apply light amounts the first few times then let it sit and dry then apply your thick coats.

Also, i will add that thicker papers tend to work better for me - like the cardstock scrapbook papers. Also, you really need to smooth as you apply or you get all the air bubbles. You can sometimes prick a pin hole in a bubble to help the air escape. It is frustrating when that happens. Really, my best luck is with thicker paper.

what a cute idea---nemelka is right-you put one thin layer of mod podge on first, let it dry for just a couple of minutes, then I usually add another very very thin layer and smooth the paper on. Then add your top coat and smooth from center to edges. Don't you love having a girl to do her hair all up and festive and
cute?! Looks great.

I have no idea about modgepodge, but Liana would know. Anyway, I just wanted to say that it's so nice to jump in here and see how you guys are doing.

I can't believe that your daughter is 8 years old. Where did the time go? Anyway, it's good to see you guys... even if it's in your blog.

You're going to have to explain the 'hearts' in person--it sounds adorable but I can't figure out the pic. I'm kinda slow that way :)
Your friends are right--thick paper and thin layers. Super cute idea though! I didn't get Mike anything. Oops. Are your kiddos feeling better?
